Established in Ottawa in 2009, Duo Laliberté Lawrence has performed on stages across Canada, including in Ottawa, Montréal, Toronto, Edmonton and Québec City. Initially specialized in classical music (from baroque to contemporary), our repertoire now includes a wide variety of styles, from popular music arrangements to film music and tango. Having begun studying the violin at the Quebec conservatory of music, Virginie Laliberté completed a Bachelor of Music in performance from the University of Ottawa and a Master’s in Music Education from the University of Toronto. She has participated in chamber music, orchestra, and contemporary music festivals in Europe and Canada, and performed as a free-lance violinist with the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra before returning to establish herself in Quebec.
Born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, double bassist Andrew Lawrence has appeared in concert halls across Canada and abroad. Since completing a Bachelor’s at the University of Ottawa and Master’s at McGill, he has performed with a wide variety of Canadian orchestras and ensembles, including three years as a member of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra double bass section. Andrew is also an avid composer, and has written and premiered numerous new works for a variety of ensembles.
